List of Frankfort Plant Board channels (April 2001)

The Frankfort Plant Board (FPB), also doing business by the acronym FPB, is a private municipal company. FPB provides an array of services to residents: electric, gas, water, telephone, home security, internet, cable television and cable advertising. FPB is said to be one of the first cable providers to begin operation in Kentucky, with its first customer signing on in 1952. Here were cable offerings as of April 5, 2001. As more channels were added throughout the years through new agreements or migration requirements, FPB lineups were rebuilt in 2005, and again in 2013.

Some hours were also shared with Catholic TV Network EWTN. EWTN eventually moves to channel 65 in 2003, to channel 68 in 2005, to channel 94 in 2013, and finally to channel 96 in 2016.
14	Encore	Was available to subscribers on the analog tier, but was scrambled. Removed from channel position in 2010.
15	The Movie Channel	Was available to subscribers on the analog tier, but was scrambled. Removed from channel position in 2010.
16	WAM!	Was available to subscribers on the analog tier, but was scrambled. Originally stood for "What Adults are Missing." Became Encore WAM in 2005, became Starz Encore Family in 2011. Removed from channel position in 2010.
17	Cinemax	Was available to subscribers on the analog tier, but was scrambled. Removed from channel position in 2010.
18	FOX Family Channel	Re-branded to ABC Family later this year, eventually re-branded Freeform in 2016. Moved to channel 58 in 2005 and to channel 70 in 2013.
19	WeatherScan Local	Supplementary service from The Weather Channel. Ran on this channel from 1999 through 2022. Since replaced by local weather information from Accuweather-based hardware.
20	Leased Access	Brokered Access, also featured heavy rotation of Real Estate Listings. Leased Access continues in this channel position. However, real estate listings were broken out onto channel 26 and photo classifieds on channel 27 in 2005. Those channel purposes recombined onto channel 4 in 2017, moved to channel 3 from 2018-2021, then back to channel 4.
21	Showtime	Was available to subscribers on the analog tier, but was scrambled. Removed from channel position in 2010.
22	Starz	Was available to subscribers on the analog tier, but was scrambled. Removed from channel position in 2010.
23	TNN	The Nashville Network became "The New TNN" or The National Network" in 2000. Became Spike TV in 2003. Moved to channel 54 in 2005, and channel 56 in 2013. Became Paramount Network in 2017.
24	68  KET2 (PBS) Louisville	While KET made this service available statewide when it launched digital companion channels in 2002, FPB likely retransmitted the original signal from WKMJ-TV. Moved in 2005 to channel 25.

49	Fox Sports Net Ohio	Mainly carried for Cincinnati Reds games, but also featured content from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Ohio State Buckeyes. Dropped in 2003 due to rising costs. Regional sports return with FSN South's Kentucky feed on October 31, 2007, mainly for Kentucky Wildcats basketball games. Also featured coverage of the Nashville Predators and SEC Sports. This relaunch is on channel 37, but moves to channel 36 in 2013. With Kentucky men's basketball games and SEC sports moving to the Disney-owned SEC Network in 2014, FOX Sports Ohio returns in July 2014. Rebranded to Bally Sports Ohio in March 2021.

53	The Health Channel	A long and complicated history finds this channel re-re-branded as FitTV in 2004. Merges with Discovery Health in 2011 as that channel's space becomes Oprah Winfrey Network, to become Discovery Fit & Health. Re-branded to Discovery Life in 2015. Moved to channel 39 in 2005, then to channel 76 later in the year when Hallmark Channel moves to that channel space. Finally moved to channel 86 in 2013.
54	TV Land	Moved to channel 59 in 2005 and to channel 63 in 2013.
55	The History Channel	Moved to channel 46 in 2005 and to channel 80 in 2013.
56	ESPN2	Moved to channel 34 in 2005, to channel 35 in 2010 and to channel 32 in 2013.
57	HGTV	Moved to channel 41 in 2005 and to channel 75 in 2013.
58	58  WFTE (UPN) Louisville	Lexington did not have a real UPN affiliate until 2004, when CBS affiliate WKYT launches "UKYT" on their second digital subchannel. Default UPN affiliate for the area is then WFTE "Great 58." Operated by, then bought by Block Communications, who own WDRB. When WB and UPN shut down in 2006 to form The CW, WFTE is left to affiliate with MyNetworkTV, changes their call letters to WMYO and is dropped by FPB. In Lexington, "UKYT" on WKYT-DT2 becomes The CW affiliate in 2006. By this point, UPN is on channel 13, which it moved to in 2005. MyNetworkTV eventually comes to Lexington on WTVQ-DT2 on channel 18.
60	C-SPAN3/General Assembly Coverage	Moved to channel 72 in 2005 and channel 16 in 2010. This channel space can be interrupted by continuous coverage of the Kentucky General Assembly produced by Kentucky Educational Television. From 2002 until the mid-2000s, this is done whenever the KET5 digital subchannel is activated during the General Assembly session. Now, there is a special fiber connection to KET's Capitol production center.
61	Promo Channel/General Assembly Coverage	Rotated at least monthly with programming found on the digital cable lineup as a placeholder. This channel space was mainly used to be interrupted by continuous coverage of the Kentucky General Assembly produced by Kentucky Educational Television. From 2002 until the mid-2000s, this is done whenever the KET6 digital subchannel is activated during the General Assembly session. Now, there is a special fiber connection to KET's Capitol production center.
62	62  WBLU (WB) Lexington	Technically served as The WB affiliate for Lexington at the time but had a very poor signal. By 2003, WBLU loses The WB affiliation and this channel space is replaced by the original WBKI which, despite being based in the Louisville DMA in Campbellsville, is close enough to Lexington to serve as the WB affiliate. WBKI as The WB eventually moves to channel 18 in 2005. Once The WB closes and merges with UPN to become The CW, WKYT-DT2 becomes Lexington's CW affiliate and network programming from WBKI is blacked out. The original WBKI is dropped in 2009 for MyNetworkTV from WTVQ-DT2. Ironically, MyNetworkTV moves from it's original Lexington home: WBLU-LP! WBLU chugs along for a little while longer before going dark in 2009 and eventually having its license canceled.

109	NewsWorld International	Essentially the American version of Canada's CBC Newsworld. Changes hands a couple of times until former Vice President Al Gore and entrepreneur Joel Hyatt buy it for the channel space in 2004. Channel space becomes Current TV on August 1, 2005. Originally a web-focused activism channel, it eventually becomes a haven for left-of-center political perspective in 2011 and 2012. After the high profile ouster of Keith Olbermann in 2012, until Al Jazeera Media Networks buys it again for the channel space in 2013. Channel space became Al Jazeera America, a highly-regarded but little watched domestic and international news channel. Folds in 2016 and finally goes dark. FPB replaces it with BBC World News several years later.
110	International Channel	Became AZN Television in 2005, focusing more on Asian programming. Closes down in 2008. FPB uses the channel space later for FOX Business Network before it moves to channel 43 in 2015.
111	Trio	Shuts down in 2005. FPB leaves the channel space empty for more than a decade and a half before using it to carry WKYT-DT3.
112	TechTV	Ziff Davis's beloved technology and computer channel. Comcast buys it in 2004 so it can merge G4 onto its channel space. Limps along until finally shutting down at the end of 2014.
113	Bloomberg Television	Carried on this channel through the early 2010s.
114	Game Show Network	Initialized GSN from 2004 through 2018. Still available on this channel in 2024.
115	BBC America	Maintains this channel position until a new deal with distributor AMC Networks forces migration to "classic cable" channel 93 in 2017.
117	Ovation	Still available on this channel in 2024.
118	Inspirational Life Television	Sister channel to The Inspiration Channel (which FPB doesn't carry until launching on channel 164 in the early 2010s). Becomes Halogen in 2009, merges with the Documentary Channel to become activism-focused Pivot in 2013. Shuts down in 2016.
119	GoodLife TV	Becomes AmericanLife TV in 2005, shortened to ALN after that. Eventually becomes YouToo TV in 2011. Dropped in the middle 2000s due to a distribution change.
120	Style Network	Eventually had all properties on the network shifted to either co-owned E!, Bravo, or Oxygen. Becomes male-focused Esquire Network until it shuts down in 2017
130	Discovery Kids	Hasbro buys part of the network in 2010, when it becomes The Hub and Hub Network. Hasbro sells their controlling stake in 2014 and channel is relaunched Discovery Family.
131	Noggin	The next year, Noggin launches "The N" for teens from 6pm until 6am on the same channel space. The channels separate on December 31, 2007, with Noggin resuming a 24-hour schedule and The N becoming a 24-hour network on Nick Games & Sports' channel space. Noggin is re-branded Nick Jr. Channel after Nickelodeon's long-running morning preschool block in 2009.
132	Nickelodeon Games and Sports	Known as "Nick GaS". Closed up on most providers on December 31, 2007, with The N taking over the channel space. The N is rebranded to TeenNick after Nickelodeons teenage programming block on September 28, 2009.
140	Golf Channel	Golf Channel eventually gets moved to basic, renamed "classic cable" in the late 2000s. Currently found on channel 39.
141	ESPN Classic	Moves to basic cable channel 35 in 2005, channel 36 in 2010, channel 33 in 2013 and channel 65 in 2019 due to the launch of ACC Network. Shuts down on January 1, 2022. FPB re-uses the channel space in 2005 for ESPNU

143	Fox Sports World	Once soccer becomes the only rights the channel holds, renamed to Fox Soccer Channel in 2005. Shortened to Fox Soccer in 2011. Shuts down in 2013, with the channel space becoming general entertainment FX spin-off FXX. Once the re-launch occurs, FXX moves to channel 161 until it is migrated to "classic cable" in 2014. Channel space re-used for CBS Sports Network in 2016.
144	Speedvision	Becomes Speed Channel in 2001 after News Corp. buys it. Fox uses the channel space to launch an all-sports channel Fox Sports 1 in 2013. As part of these plans, carriage agreements require it be moved down to "classic cable" in 2013. Moves to channel 80 before moving to channel 35 on August 15, 2013. FPB briefly re-uses the channel space for Olympic Channel from 2017 through 2022.
145	CNN/SI	Shuts down in 2002. FPB later re-uses the channel space for Horse Racing Television in the late 2000s. TVG buys HRTV in 2015 and re-brands it TVG2. Now operates as FanDuel Racing.
160	We TV	Focus has shifted a bit, but remains We TV in 2024.

320-327	Showtime package	Includes Showtime, Showtime 2, Showtime 3, and Showtime Extreme east and west feeds. More Showtime channels launched as west feeds are removed in the mid-2010s. As of 2024, Showtime is technically "Paramount + with Showtime"
330-333	The Movie Channel package	Includes The Movie Channel and TMC2 east and west feeds. TMC2 later re-brands to The Movie Channel Xtra. FPB removes west feeds and launches Flix on channel 333 in the mid-2010s
340-351	Encore package	Includes Encore, Encore Love, Encore Mystery, Encore Westerns, Encore True Stories, and Encore Action east and west feeds. Some channels re-branded since but mostly still extant as "Starz Encore"
360-364	Starz package	Includes Starz, Starz 2 east and west plus "Starz 3 BET", which is now Starz in Black
400-434	In Demand Pay-Per-View channels	Pay-per-view movies and adult programs. Continued until the late 2000s, but deprecated when On-Demand service launched. Relaunched on channel 401, mostly just for PPV events, but has since been removed in 2024.
500-507	ESPN GamePlan/ESPN Full Court Pay-Per-View channels	ESPN's out-of-market college football and basketball package. FPB dropped these in approximately 2010 when ESPN3 access became free with every broadband subscription. Both services merged into ESPN College Extra in 2016 once college football and basketball broadcasting migrated more toward nationally televised conference networks and less on out-of-market syndication packages. ESPN College Extra shut down in 2023.
